Two years ago I was showing a couple some homes in Millard and they had it narrowed down to two. After agreeing on which one they liked most, they called me to write an offer.
Here is where it gets creepy. I called the listing agent and left him a message letting him know that I was going to be writing an offer on his listing and asked how he would like me to get the offer to him - fax, email, or deliver it. I then met with my clients and wrote the offer. Since I had not yet heard back from the listing agent I called him again and let him know that I would deliver the purchase agreement to his office. Once I got to the office and dropped off the offer I left the agent another voice mail informing him that I had left the offer for him.
The next morning after still not hearing back from the agent, I called to ask him if he received the offer; I got his voice mail again so I left another message letting him know that the offer expires at noon. By eleven o'clock that morning, with only one hour until the offer expires, I had not heard back from him. So what did I do? I called again and left another message. Finally noon arrived but still no call from the listing agent.
I called my buyers and let them know that the listing agent had never returned any of my numerous messages and I asked them what they wanted to do. They said if the listing agent is too lazy to call back then to forget it. They want to write an offer on their second choice.
So I left this agent one last message saying that the offer had expired and my clients have decided to purchase another property in Omaha.
Scary isn't it? I would hate to have been the sellers that this agent was representing.

Troy - did you ever find out what happened to this agent? Is he or she still in business? Very sad for those sellers. Was it possible to call the agent's broker or was it a single agent company? Interesting post!!
JoEllen,
This agent was with one of the large brokerages in town and to my knowledge is still in business. It was after hours when I wrote the offer and the next day was a Saturday so when I called his office I only got an answering service. I just figured that surely this agent would call me back. Surely.
Don't call him Shirley. That is so crazy. I cannot believe that. Poor sellers. Hope they got their house sold.
