Eulogy for the Traditional Omaha Real Estate Agent
We gather here today to mourn the passing of someone known by everyone, the traditional real estate agent. He had been with us for decades but as times changed he was unable to.
Stuck in the 1970's he thought marketing real estate amounted to putting a sign in the yard and putting the home on the Omaha MLS. Those days are gone.
In a world of virtual tours, Internet listing syndication, CraigsList, social networking, ActiveRain and so many other advances he was unable to keep up. His sales slipped. His clients abandoned him. He is now just a memory.
As one life comes to an end, another one begins. Today we must embrace the new tech-savvy, client-oriented Realtor of the future. With him he brings a new era of better service, knowledgeable advice, effective marketing, and satisfied clients.
I need to sell my home in Omaha? What's my Omaha home worth?

Hi Troy,
I'm mourning with you this old traditional agent and welcoming a new one "Agent Institution".
This one is never tired, always smiles, doesn't say"I don't know how"and what's the most important never ever leaves client in situation which can only get worse, cause is not jealous about the client and not greedy for the full commission. If there is a need to share this commission with other more experienced agents this new agent will. This is all called "team work".It works when the team members know what it's all about.
It's all about the client to be satisfied and about the contract to be finalized.

Hi Troy--
I have only been in real estate for a short time. With just learning the ins and outs of the business, I am struggling on how to best maximize my time. I understand the importance of social marketing, but the learning curve is a bit steep. What do you recommend?
Nice post BTW!!
Beth,
Social marketing can be useful as a way of keeping in touch with past clients and your SOI but I think your time will be better spent generating business through prospecting.
Hi Troy,
I loved your eulogy........being a real estate agent for "Some Time", I found myself wondering about that learning curve being steep. But the one thing I can say is that we all have learned How To Do Something New in life as well as in Real Estate. The first microwave, self-cleaning oven, hooking up the VCR, now programming cell phones, hooking up a printer and computer, the list goes on and on but if we never attempted to learn anything new, think of what this world would be like.
