Omaha Real Estate: Oak Heights in Omaha, NE

Oak Heights in Omaha, NE

Oak Heights is a middle class neighborhood that has been thriving for the past 38 years.  When families began moving to the area, it could have been described as in southwest Omaha close to the Douglas and Sarpy County border.  With the annexation of Elkhorn by the city of Omaha, residents don't know how to describe the location.  Not that it matters!  Homeowners prefer to be known as a friendly, comfortable neighborhood.  It is not uncommon in the summer for street parties and patio get-togethers. Walkers stop to talk and pass the time of day, giving the area a small town feeling.

Elementary students attend Hitchcock Elementary School witch is within walking distance for most students.  Hitchcock is in the Millard School district and has excellent teachers and staff.  It provides quality education.  Oak Heights also has its own park and swimming pool which are well maintained and well used.

A good neighborhood is a place where people feel accepted and a part of the community and for that reason many residents have lived in Oak Heights for 30 to 35 years and wouldn't think of moving, my parents are among them.  And, some of the residents who have moved have relocated within a mile or two, still wanting to be close.
